How CT Chemicals uses business contact information

Who we are

CT Chemicals supplies cleaning and hygiene chemicals to businesses in Gauteng, North West and Mpumalanga. We are the responsible party for the information described here, as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

What information we hold

For a business we have identified as a possible customer, we hold:

• the business name
• a business telephone number
• a business address, so we can visit
• the area the business is in
• a public listing reference for the business

We do not hold personal information about individuals beyond the business contact details above. We do not hold identity numbers, bank details, or any special personal information.

Where we got it

From public business listings: Overture Maps, which is open public data, and Google's public business listings. We did not buy a contact list. We did not take information from private sources.

Why we hold it

To find businesses in the areas we deliver to that may need the products we supply, so that we can offer to supply them. This is ordinary business-to-business supplier contact.

Our legal basis is legitimate interest, under section 11(1)(f) of POPIA. We have assessed this and recorded the assessment.

How we contact you

In person, or by telephone. We do not send marketing by email, SMS or WhatsApp to a business that is not already our customer.

Who else sees it

We use BTR Consult LLC as our technology provider. They operate the system that identifies candidate businesses, and they act only on our instruction. Their system holds only a public listing reference and our own notes. It does not hold your business name, telephone number or address.

We do not sell your information. We do not give it to anyone else for their own use.

How long we keep it

If you do not become a customer, we delete your details within 12 months.

If you ask us not to contact you again, we delete your contact details and keep only the listing reference and the reason, so that our system does not put you back on the list. That is the only reason we keep anything after you object.

If you become a customer, your details become part of your customer record and are kept under the rules that apply to customer and tax records.

Your rights

You may:

• ask us what we hold about your business
• ask us to correct it
• ask us to delete it
• object to us holding or using it

If you object, we stop. You do not need to give a reason.

How to ask

Email info@ctchemicals.co.za, or tell the person who visits or calls you. Either works. We will confirm we received your request and act on it within 30 days.

If you tell the person visiting you, that is enough. You do not need to put it in writing.

If you are not satisfied

You may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za, or by email to POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za.
